I tried Cafe Mediterranean for the first time yesterday, and found a unique restaurant with amazing, flavorful, authentic Turkish food! Yes, it is a Hyde Park Restaurant, but the waitress was so friendly and open that I immediately felt comfortable, despite the "posh digs." In fact, the whole restaurant had both an elegant and comfortable feel to it -- I would describe is as "mood lighting with friendly faces." And the menu does have the Mediterranean offerings you would expect, but with a few unknown and vibrantly-flavored surprises. I ordered the shrimp saute, and when I expressed concern about heat level, the waitress offered to tell the chef to tone it down for me. It was absolutely spectacular, with a taste profile too complex to completely describe. And, yes, I will order the full heat level next time. I also ordered Sucuklu Pide, not exactly knowing what it was, despite the description on the menu. It turned out to be house-made flatbread with Turkish sausage and mozzarella cheese -- it was the ultimate comfort food, and a great accompaniment to the spiciness of the shrimp saute. I finished it all with the pistachio baklava, because how could you not, and it was huge, warmed up to a toasty brownness before serving, and absolutely satisfying. All told, I discovered a real treasure here, and plan to share this find with friends often!

Every time I go here, I leave full and so happy! I've tried to eat new dishes each time and am never disappointed, and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Tonight was the first time my husband and I had dessert, and the pistachio baklava is out of this world. The outdoor patio and lights make for a great date night spot.

We had an 8 person party and they treated us like royalty!! We had drinks, dinners and desserts and all were great! The Branzinos / Salmon and Swordfish dishes were particularly tasty. A very great atmosphere that is classy but still casual.
